New Lovelock CAve Book & Film

Outside of Lovelock, Nevada, there is a cave with a mysterious legend associated with it.  The legend states that a mysterious group of red-haired giants lived in the area and fought with the Pauites.  The Pauites exterminated most of them after a final battle (perhaps taking place in the early 1800s) and the red-haired giants retreated to the cave.  The Pauites set the cave on fire.  The Pauites believed that they had killed off all the red-haired giants, but some may have escaped.  Rita Jean Moran made a visit to this cave, the Nevada State Museum, and the area by Pyramid Lake to get to the bottom of the story.  After collecting so much information and requesting DNA testing for the remains retrieved from the cave and being denied, Rita entered a program to get a Master's degree in anthropology.  After successfully completing the coursework, Rita wrote a thesis on the Lovelock Cave people, that was ultimately rejected and she had to write a different thesis to fulfill graduation requirements.  A curious tale of missing remains, disappearing evidence, blocking information on the Lovelock Cave people, and establishment examinations that confirmed parts of the Lovelock Cave story, unfolded. This is Rita’s story of what she found out regarding Lovelock Cave and the red-haired giants.
